Cyber Affair

Cyber Affair – Virtual Reality Adultery Exposed

The Internet has become one of the best ways of communication, allowing users a convenient method of keeping in touch. However, it can also become a nuisance to relationships. One of the ways it can harm people is by using it to have an adulterous affair. This style of cheating is very new; perhaps it began as soon as people got used to using the Internet.

A person engaged in cyber affair carries a relationship with someone online. This kind of relationship is sexual in nature, although not all. Some argue that this cannot be considered as cheating since no actual physical intercourse occurred. Do keep in mind that cheating is a matter of the heart. One can commit crimes of infidelity by simply acting on lustful thoughts and emotions, without the consent of the spouse. Addiction to Internet pornography can also be considered as cyber cheating since the offending spouse chooses to satisfy sexual drives by indulging in these instead of the partner.

Cyber affair is just as destructive to marriage as physical affair. The following are a few examples of signs to watch out for:

  1. Regular Deletion of History and Cookies. The guilty spouse often clears the history after an Internet session. They usually remove any suspicious data that might implicate them. Please take note that this act is done compulsively. One usually deletes History because one has something to hide.
  2. Irregular Sessions. Sometimes the guilty spouse and the third party spend time online during late hours, usually when the other spouse is asleep or when the spouse is not around. If a spouse has the tendency to use the Net during this suspicious schedule, one can simply ask the partner for the reason.
  3. Sudden Switching-Off. A spouse having a cyber affair tends to be very secretive. Guilty spouses will suddenly turn-off the computer or switch the user when somebody suddenly walks in the room. This act indicates strange activity. What is the mate trying to hide? In this situation, one can also confront the spouse by directly asking.
  4. New Internet Activity. To hide the affair, the offending spouse will use a different social network unfamiliar to the cheated spouse. While it is not very difficult to check whether a mate is using a different social network (since there are various social network and chat sites available nowadays.), it might be harder to find out if one is using a different username. One must try to find out what this new name is. Typical account names depend on the user’s personality. Hence, a good knowledge about a spouse can be a great clue.
  5. New Emails and Passwords. Aside from using a different social network, the guilty mate might create a new email address. The mate can also change the current password of the email regularly used. This is harder to keep tabs on since the cheater might keep this new email and password secret. In this case, one must cleverly coax the desired information from the spouse. One must be shrewd and wary when doing this.
